Learnidia is operated by Idia Solution. This page explains, in plain English, where automated technology is used in our service and where it is not.

Learners do not talk to an automated system

Learnidia does not offer open conversation with an automated system. Every lesson, dialogue, story, simulation and conversation game you meet is scripted learning material, prepared in advance and reviewed before publication. You are never placed in an open-ended chat with a machine.

Where we use automated technology

Automated technology is used only on our side of the service:

to help our team draft, expand and update lessons, exercises, dialogues and newsletter material, which are reviewed and approved before learners see them;
to mark and score exercises, exams and written or spoken practice, and to produce the explanations, strengths, weaknesses and study recommendations in your report card;
to help us build, test and maintain the website itself.

Marking can make mistakes

Automatic marking, scores and explanations are learning feedback, not an official assessment. They can occasionally be wrong, out of date or confusingly worded. If a mark looks incorrect, please tell us through the contact page and we will review it.

Not a substitute for a qualified teacher

Learnidia is a study companion, not a replacement for a qualified English teacher, certified examination preparation, or any medical, legal or professional advice. If you need professional advice, please contact a qualified person in your country.

Exam preparation is independent practice

Our IELTS, OET, PTE, TOEFL and Business English material is independently produced practice content. Learnidia is not affiliated with, endorsed by or certified by the organisations that own those examinations, and any band or score estimate is indicative practice feedback, not an official result.

Learners under 18

Learnidia has no separate parent or child accounts, and no accounts for children under 12. Independent Learners start at 12, and Aspiring and Professional learners at 16, with Public Speaking from 18. Because learners never converse with an automated system, there is no open chat surface where personal details could be requested. We still collect as little information as possible: a name, country, date of birth and learning pathway.

Recordings and saved work

Speaking practice may record short voice clips so your pronunciation can be marked. Written answers and exam papers are stored so your progress and report cards make sense over time. You can delete your account, and everything stored with it, from your account settings.

Your responsibility

By using Learnidia you accept that automatically produced marking and explanations may contain errors, and that important decisions should be checked with a human expert.
